YAQUELINE CASTELLANOS - “THE LADY OF SON”
Yaqueline
Castellanos is the most outstanding female vocalist coming out of Cuba
the recent years. Her career started in 1984, when she won the
first prize and the prize of the specialised press in the Cuban TV-show
“Todo el mundo canta”
Her
voice, trained at Cuba’s national school for the Arts, allows her to
cover various musical styles, although it is her amazing capability for
improvisation, which made her the real “Lady of Son”.
She
has participated in Cuba’s most prestigious festivals: “Jazz
Plaza”, “Adolfo Guzman”, “Beny More” as well as “Oro Verde” (Brazil),
“Boleros de Oro” (Mexico),
“Antologia
del Bolero”(Spain).
She
shared the stage with Elena Burke, Maria Dolores Pradera, Omara
Portuondo, Moncho, Celina Gonzalez, Dyango, Los Panchos, Armando
Manzanero etc.
She
has performed and toured in many countries like Nicaragua, Brazil,
Mexico, Curacao, Russia, Finland, Hungary, Luxemburg, Holland, Greece,
Spain, Italy, Kroatia, Slovenia, France and Germany.
